As the other rider, my perspective is:

The phone did seem to take a long time to geo-locate, so a simple tweet could easily take 5mins - not quite the point of short, sharp messages - but stopping on a bike to do anything seems to take time.

If we hadn't been doing this, would we have stopped as often, or taken as many pictures? Maybe with just a camera, we would have had more photos and less tweets.

Another way to document the ride would have been a blog at the end of each day, but I'm glad we didn't do that, as I think that may have felt laborious.

And did anyone follow us? Well a couple of people were interested, but then again ain't that twitter for ya!

@Danny - yeah, could be something to scale! Look forward to seeing some results this weekend, but no pressure ;-)

@DuncanH yes, some twitter action might be good! I guess the first thing to is check the wiki (http://lamrt.bluwiki.com/) and post up an idea? Maybe setting up and configuring a Twitter account to use for alerts could be an idea... or maybe there is an elaboration on the #uksnow stuff - but that might be for another weekend!

Sounds really cool! Disappointed that I am busy this weekend otherwise I would loved to have come along.

Am willing to help at a distance with something small possible if you guys want, would be interested in doing something with the Twitter API (you know how much of a fan I am!) but not sure what so any ideas would be welcome!

It's a cracking idea well done. Really looking forward to it! There are a couple of Emergency 4x4 rescue teams that could do with new websites in the North East. Can't wait to see how this weekend works out with the possibility of rolling it out a bit further.
